Goring Parish Boundaries - 72KB

Goring Parish includes Maybridge, which is also the name for the built up areas known as Goring Green, Boxgrove, and Limbrick.

The voters register has a different view, and specifies Goring Ward and Castle Ward. Castle Ward from some reason includes some parts of Durrington.

The parish boundary with Ferring to the west runs down the middle of the Goring Gap. That is easy.

To the north a long spur of open country extends over the Littlehampton road as far as the flyover on the A27 Arundel road, with Durrington to the East.

To the east the boundary with West Worthing runs up the middle of George V Avenue, then north to include the Leisure Centre, then up The Boulevard to the Littlehampton Road, probably leaving Field Place and Durrington High School in West Worthing. Durrington railway station in definitely in Goring parish.

If you are not confused now you are not understanding the situation. Many traders call themselves West Worthing, or even Worthing to attract a wider clientele. But some traders in West Worthing at Goring Road in the George V Avenue shopping parade call themselves Goring.

Finally, people who have lived here for some generations tell us that Goring Village is just an area a few hundred yards round St Mary's Church.
