Our Latest National Awards Although we do receive help within the community, without the money raised from awards we would not be able to fully fund our projects Barclycard Livingland Award 2004 for work done by Year 5/6 on our Thinking Garden. This is a national competition, hundreds of schools applied, and for the third consecutive year we received a runners up certificate and cheque for £250. Alan Titchmarsh Gardens for Schools Award 2004. For this we received a cheque for £500 towards developing the labyrinth. William has won an 'Earthwatch' award and will have a week in S. Devon in August 2004 working with scientists on the butterfly and cricket population. This will also bring in £150 to spend on our pond project. In May 2004 we had the fantastic news that we have won a lottery award for £5,000 to equip the workshop and upgrade some of our paths for wheelchairs!
In September 2003 we were privileged to be invited to The National Trust property Wimpole House and Gardens in Cambridgeshire.to receive the REEP 2003 ( Religious Education and Environmental Programme) national award for the design of our Thinking Garden.

The awards were presented by Chris Beardshaw of BBC's Gardeners World and The Flying Gardener.A group of twenty children represented the school and had a wonderful day which included visiting the house, farm and gardens.
The day culminated in everyone putting seeds in named envelopes and
attaching them to helium balloons. They then stood in a circle listening to several readings and a prayer after which all the balloons were released together. It was a wonderful sight.
| Work is progressing on the Thinking Garden. The wooden frame for the Sanctuary was built last week and Primary classes are working on their designs for the mosaics on the floor. |

Open Days in the Summer 2007 During the summer season Palatine School Gardens had two very successful Open Days with over 200 people visiting the gardens. A group of about 15 children from Oak Grove College acted as guides and wore our T-shirts depicting our mottos
and I Can and I will They are always exceptional in their reliability, giving up lots of their own time and a credit to the school in the way that they showed the public around the gardens, with such confidence and knowledge about the projects they took part in when they attended Palatine School. This was before the re-organisation of the special schools in the area. >> Dates for our next openings
