Phoenix Surgery will move sometime in 2005 Plans were submitted for a new building for the Phoenix Surgery in the Mulberry Parade carpark, but this has been turned down. It is possible that they could take one of the shop premises in St John's Parade at the end of next year. Residents are keen that the surgery in Sea Lane should still be local. Which is what you would expect. |
Floods hit Goring
A section of Marine Drive near the Sea Lane Cafe was flooded on Wednesday evening. Apparently it was caused by water backed up when the long sea storm water outfall got blocked. This could have been really nasty for the local residents. The fire brigade assisted to pump it away. It had all cleared from the road by breakfast time. Just over half and inch of rain fell here.

Five foot snake found in Ferring A five-foot American Pine Snake was fiound in a garden in Sea Lane Gardens, Ferring on Sunday. It had probably escaped or set free from a private collection. The snake is a constrictor and probably not poisonous, and it is now in safe hands. But dogs have been acting worried in this area for some days. (Meridian News 4 July 2004) |

The saga of the seats There used to be no less than five seats in the Molson Gardens at the top of Sea Lane, Goring. But they attracted late night lager parties, and the residents had them taken away. So the party-goers took the two seats from outside the library. We brought them back and chained them to the railings. But one of the seats was sawn off so that it fitted neatly onto the concrete outside the library which is sloping. But now it has been bolted to the concrete against the slope and has a distinct list to starboard. We shall leave it like that until it needs maintenance again. |

Beach Huts looking good A quick check of the 270 odd beach huts at Goring showed nearly all to be well painted and in good nick. Two have roof damage; one needs a coat of paint; only one needs a lot of attention. The Beach Office are obviously well on the case. |
