Field Place
Built in 1321, one of the principal manor House in Goring. During the 16th, 17th and 18th Centuries it was owned by the Coke or Cook family who owned the manor of Durrington and whose memorials are the principal ancient monuments in St Mary's Church. John Coke was Sherif of the County in 1494.

The estate at that time included 200 acres in Goring and 140 acres in Tarring. The interior of the house retains the Oak Room which has richly carved Jacobean panelling. The house was extensively altered in the late 18th Century during the occupation of the Henty family, so that the present east front dates from about 1800.

During the second world war, Field Place was the administrative HQ for local RAF RADAR installations.

In 1956 the house was purchased by by Worthing Council and is a sports and social centre.
